Engagement Photography

While weddings generally serve as the defining rite of passage for most people, that does not mean that there is no cause to celebrate the love and relationships earlier.  While the first kiss might be too soon to start taking photographs of, many people today are starting to consider engagement photography to be the first step on the road to a successful wedding ceremony.  Why?  Well, there are many ideas.  Not the least of which is the fact that some states require engagement photos in order to receive a marriage license, but there is far more to engagement photos than old laws written in dusty tomes at town hall.

The first idea is that engagement photography is often used to highlight the love, dedication, devotion, and affection between an engaged couple.  We all go through our ups and our downs, but sometimes having that tangible reminder of love is all it takes for us to calm down when we are upset, or avoid arguments altogether.  Simply put, many people feel that there is a substantial psychological value to all kinds of love-oriented photographs, and engagement photos are near the top of that list in terms of emotional power.

Others feel that engagement photography shows an additional amount of dedication right out of the gate.  Women relate to others, including their future life partners, in a special way.  A major part of the way that women view relationships has to do with dedication and gestures, and this has been noted time and again by authors and psychologists.  Showing a woman that she is worth marrying is a great gesture, but making the even more memorable with photographs shows that the event was more than an accident.  It was pre-meditated, and not in any small way.  This shows an incredible amount of thoughtfulness and that is important to anyone, but especially to that very special someone.
